Have your say: Placecheck

About Placecheck

Placecheck lets you pin your likes, dislikes, and suggestions onto an online map of Callander.

Think of them as digital Post-it Notes.

We’d like you to tell us how we can make Callander a better place to live in.

  • If there’s something in Callander that deserves a round of applause, like our local butcher, tell them how much you appreciate everything they have done for the community over the past 18 months.
  • If there’s something you want to change, or remove, tell us about that.
  • If you want to protect our green spaces from future development, let us know which ones.
  • If you think we need a new service, event, or facility, stick a pin on the map.
  • If you have any great ideas about better use of land or buildings, we’d love to hear them.
  • Do you want a pedestrian bridge over the river? Tell us where you’d put it.

Adding your ideas will help steer the rest of the public consultations. It’s not a formal vote and we do not keep any data from the exercise. But we will take every suggestion seriously and will roll them into the 2 large scale consultations we are planning to hold over the next 9 months.

How to use the Placecheck map

The map and commenting facility is provided by Placecheck. You can only add new pins to the map, or vote other suggestions up or down, when logged in with a Placecheck account. You can register with Placecheck by clicking on the link in the top-right of the map.

The Local Place Plan group will only see the public information posted to the map.

  1. Log in. This will make the Placecheck buttons appear.
  2. Click on the button for the type of marker you would like to add - the green button for Add something I like, the red button for Add something I don’t like, and the orange button for Something we need to work on.
  3. Click on the map where you want to make a comment.
  4. Click on Save to map.
  5. In the box that opens, write a title (e.g. ‘Park gates’ or ‘Litter’) followed by more details about the area / issue that you want to highlight.
  6. Click on Save.

You can return to your marker later to edit it, but you cannot change a marker that someone else has posted. The delete function is not currently working (this has been reported and is being investigated).

Please note, the maps used by Placecheck have not yet been updated with the new housing on Mollands Road, but the location can still be marked if needed.
